Planning My Creative and Critical Process

Image
Blog #13: Our film that we created is called "Malfeasance". We chose the name of our title since our film is a traditional crime film with mystery elements about a detective that has been put on a murder case, which he is determined to solve, and the definition of "malfeasance" is an act that is illegal and causes physical or monetary harm to someone else, and is a synonym to the word crime. Moreover, the film follows the detective investigating a specific suspect, which is a very popular high school girl who is heavily connected to the victim of the case. Additionally, a common theme of the film is that no one is to be trusted in the town, everyone is suspicious. Our mise-en-scene was to be in the mannerisms of young adults today and their style nowadays as well, which is using slang and wearing streetwear. But the mannerism of the of the main suspect, Alexis, is nervous and she seems like she is trying to hide something.  The detective is wearing more office clo

The Process of Making Our Film Opening

Blog #12: While creating our film opening, we had many decisions to make. Our screenplay that we had created prior to actually recording wasn't set in stone, since we all didn't have much time to create our screenplay and it was hard for all of us to collaborate for it. So we began on filming the scene with the two girls since we were very iffy about what we were going to do with our detective scene. We knew we wanted to make a transition of a picture of the suspect, to her being seated at the coffee shop with her friend. So, when we were filming our scene with the two teenager girls having a conversation we knew the gist of what we wanted to say, but we didn't want to the conversation to sound scripted. So, we let our actors to improv their conversation while still being able to keep with the plot of the film. We did have problems filming this part of the opening though.  We had problems with scheduling because many of the people that we asked to help us with the film we

Blog #11: Click Here to see my sweding project  https://youtu.be/bT8E3ZZrD9Y We chose this scene from "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" because this movie gave us so much nostalgia since we grew up watching it. This scene from the movie was one of our favorite scenes all together and many kids from our generation have tried to recreate it on social media, so we wanted a chance to try to recreate the scene, especially since we had all the resources that we needed from being in this class. Most of the time whenever we film, we try to film at one of our houses so it can be easier and we won't have to stay longer at school than we needed to. But once we realized that we needed to do this scene in school, we realized how much easier it was to be able to film. The experience of filming this was much more fun since we got to get a lot of our friends to be in it and there were many scenes where people were running. We also learned a better way to put a voice over on our recordings, since in

Screenplay

Blog #10 Malfeasance .docx Some challenges that we faced to make our script was scheduling. When we should have been doing our script two of us in our group were on a school trip so it was hard for us to be able to figure out what we were gonna do for the script since me and another girl in my group, Alicia, did not have our laptops. But we ended up figuring it out by letting our other group member, Dana, make the word document, share it to us, and she would put ideas on it, and since we had the word document app on our phones we would check to see if we liked it or we if we could change it to something different, and we would text each other about it.  We are planning to go to our friend Danas house to film the detective scene and go to a coffee shop called "The Little Coffee Shoppe" to film the scene where the girls are having a conversation.  But after rereading our screenplay we realized that the conversation between the girls were very natural, so when we start to film

Genre FIlm Script Analysis

Image
Blog #9: The genre that my group chose for our opening scene was a traditional crime genre with some mystery elements added to it. The movie that I picked is the same genre, a crime mystery film, that is called "The Godfather". Some elements the screenwriter established in the opening scene is the intensity of the situation establishing where the two characters are sitting and their body language in the scene. Bonasera is the one replaying the intense situation to Don and the screenwriter establishes the mise en scene by saying that Bonasera sitting at the front of Don's desk facing the camera and explaining that Don is sitting at the front of the desk petting a cat to show dominance over the conversation. At the end of the scene Bonasera calls Don "Godfather" which helps set the mood of the whole film by establishing how powerful Don is. On the script it only establishes where everyone is placed but in the actual film the intensity of the conversation and who
