Blog #8: Lately I have been rewatching shows that I have loved like "The 100", "Friends", "The Walking Dead", "Bridgerton", "Boy Meets World", and "Jane the Virgin". I honestly love any genre of shows or movies, which is why I also finished watching some new shows called "The Society", "Griselda", and "Tacoma FD". All of these shows are really good and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. "Griselda" is anew show that was released on Netflix that is based on the true story of a famous drug lord in Miami called La Madrina. My family and I have also been getting into rewatching all the Conjuring movies and Annabelle movies since there hasn't been any good new horror movies. The Conjuring movies and the Annabelle movies are all connected in the same universe; they are all paranormal movies who are investigated by a couple of renowned paranormal investigators named Ed and Lorraine...

Blog #7:              The film companies my group was assigned to were Amblin Entertainment and Paramount Studios. Amblin Entertainment was founded in 1984 by Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall, and Kathleen Kennedy, and they were more focused on making sci-fi movies until Decmeber 2015, where they underwent a major reorganization and became a unit of the new Amblin Pictures and now focus on more family themed movies. Some movies that made them famous were the "Back to the Future" saga, the "Jurrassic Park" saga, "E.T. Adventure", "Gremlins", and "The Goonies". Paramount Studios was founded in 1912 by Adolph Zukor, Jesse L Lasky, and William Wadsworth Hodkinson. All of there three different companies, Famous Player Film Co, Jesse L Lasky Co, and Paramount Pictures all merged to become one Paramount Studios. They specialize in various genres such as action, sci-fi, drama, romance, comedy, horror, and crime, and their most famous movies w...

Research into Film Companies

Blog #6:         The company that my group thought was the best fit for our film opening was the 20th Century Studios that is under the Disney company. We believed it was the best fit because our film opening's genre is a traditional crime film with elements of a myste ry film and the 20th Century Studios has made multiple crime films that have become successful like "The Woman in the Window". The film was a notable success at the box office and had a very positive average rating. The budget for the film was around $40 million and made positive rating which marked the last Hollywood film before they went under the Disney company.

Storytelling Through Camerawork

Blog Post #5 The sub-genre psychological horror is a very popular sub-genre for fans of horror films. This sub-genre focuses on the mental, psychological, and emotional states of the characters in the film that they go through by using them to relate and scare the audience. The Black Swan is a good example of psychological horror. Throughout the film, the audience learns that the main character Nina struggles with multiple issues, an eating disorder, and obsessions with dancing and perfectionism. Nina also lives with her mother who portrays elements of mental illness: a narcissistic personality and depressive features. In this clip of The Black Swan, they use cinematography when Nina sees her reflection be out of sink with her, by showing that she is becoming detached to herself and doesn't really feel like herself anymore after all the training she has been doing to become one with the black swan.

Blog #4:        Throughout this experience of filming my first project, I learned a lot about filming, editing, and developing mise-en-scene. What I learned about filming is that you should have a concrete plan of what each shot is going to look like and always have back up shots, just in case if some shots don't work together. Since, I was co-director I didn't do much editing but when the editor would ask me some questions to see if I could help, I learned that we should have made sure the app we were using was able to handle all the footage we were downloading because the first app we were using shut down out of no where and we lost all of our progress, but didn't lose the footage. So we had to start all over with the editing. What I learned about developing mise-en-scene was that we also had to plan that before hand so we made sure that everything was looking in place of what we were trying to capture. We made sure we got all of our scenes tha...

Second Music Video Post

Blog #3    So far, my group and I have met up a few times. We recorded our opening scene already and established what we were going to be recording with. There are four people in my group; one of them is in charge of recording everything, one of them is in charge of editing, one of them is the leading girl, and I am in charge of the Mise-en-Scene. The costumes that everybody will wear are clothes that teenagers would usually wear to a party. There won't be any of our voices heard, the song will be over the video which will match occasionally with the leading girls' lips. Most of the editing will be done with clean cuts but a couple of them will have transitions.

Blog #2:                        My group chose the song Telephone by Lady Gaga (feat. Beyonce). When we chose this song we had multiple ideas on how to interpret it but we finally decided to interpret the song about a toxic romantic relationship. So when we decided to interpret the song that way we asked our teacher to print out the lyrics for us and we decided to write on those sheets of paper on how we would arrange each shot and what they would look like. We as a group also decided when we would all be available to record and what the location is where we would record the video.
